Will I be charged when I commit?
No. Your card is authorized for a deposit hold (25% of the trip price) but no funds move. The hold is only captured if the trip reaches its minimum and locks in.
What happens if the trip doesn’t lock in?
If you don’t hit the minimum before the commit window closes, the hold is released automatically. $0 charged. Try again with a different trip or a wider net.
Why a deposit and not the full price?
Lower friction to commit, and Stripe holds tie up the full authorized amount on your card limit — a smaller hold means less impact while you wait for friends to join.
Who actually runs the trips?
TrovaTrip’s network of vetted local operators across 100+ destinations. Once your trip locks in, our ops team confirms with the operator and emails you next steps within 1-2 business days.
Can I cancel after I commit?
Before lock-in: yes, anytime — your hold is released. After lock-in: standard TrovaTrip cancellation policy applies (varies by operator and how close to departure).
What if more friends join after lock-in?
Great — the per-person price drops for everyone as the group grows, until you hit the cap (usually 22-26 travelers).
