About this trip

From the tallest mountain range in the lower 48 to the most famous stretch of coast on the Pacific Ocean, California has it all. On this epic six-day adventure you’ll hike and explore three national parks in the Sierra Nevada mountains before heading to the coast. Wander through the granite wonderland of Yosemite, then marvel at the largest trees in the world in Sequoia and Kings Canyon. Meet sea lions while kayaking in Monterey Bay, then soak up the ocean air in the rugged coastline of Big Sur. After your trip, you’ll have new friends, incredible memories, and breathtaking photos to match. Due to a U.S. regulation, non-U.S. residents must pay a $100 entry fee per U.S. National Park visited. This requirement currently applies to the 11 most visited U.S. national parks. TrovaTrip will collect passport information after booking and notify travelers if this fee applies to them. The fee can be paid in cash to the Guide upon arrival ($100 per person, per park) or by credit card in advance for an additional $5 processing fee per park. Total fees depend on the number of parks visited. Please Note: This is a participatory camping trip, in which all travelers will be assisting in setting up camp and cooking meals. Guides will teach you the best methods for quick set up and take down of tents and will lead the cooking, providing clear instructions and oversight. If you’ve never set up camp or cooked outdoors before, this is the perfect opportunity to learn under expert supervision!

    Welcome to California!

Welcome to California! Your trip begins with TrovaTrip picking you up from the airport and transferring you to Yosemite National Park. Time permitting you’ll be able to do a quick hike before sundown and then you'll set up camp and cook your first dinner with the group. Plan to arrive by 12 pm. Camping is part of this incredible experience; you will set up and pack up your tent and help prep all meals! Since you'll be out on adventures most days, lunch will be picnic-style or bagged lunches. If you've never camped before, no worries, your professional Guide will always be there to help. Stops for bathroom breaks will be made as needed along the way to the campground. For the hike in the evening you'll want to break out your hiking boots and bring a water bottle, sunglasses, and insect repellent.

    • Intro to Yosemite
After arriving at your campground and dropping off some gear, you'll have the opportunity to head into the valley. Time and weather permitting, this evening you will get your first taste of Yosemite. Take a stroll through the valley and catch a glimpse of the massive granite cliffs and waterfalls of this striking and iconic landscape. Walking around, you’re surrounded by towering trees, the sound of flowing water, and expansive views. Your guide will lead you on a short walk to stretch your legs with possible trails including Lower Yosemite Falls (Distance: 1.2 miles / Elevation Gain: 55 ft / Duration 40 mins / Difficulty: Easy) or Cook's Meadow Loop (Distance: 2 miles / Elevation Gain: 78 ft / Duration: 45 minutes / Difficulty: Easy) - depending on conditions.

Common questions

How does this work?

You start the trip and pick possible dates. Friends commit by putting a card on file — $0 charged today. Once 8 friends commit and ops confirms, the trip locks in and we capture a 25% deposit. If we don't hit 8 in time, every hold is released and nothing happens.

When am I actually charged?

Only if the trip locks in (8 friends commit) AND TrovaTrip ops confirms the booking. Until then your card is just authorized — no money moves. At lock-in we capture a 25% deposit; the remainder is due ~60 days before departure, same as any TrovaTrip trip.

What if we don’t get enough friends to commit?

If we don’t hit 8 commitments before the window closes, every hold is released automatically. $0 charged, the trip just doesn’t happen.

Can I cancel after I commit?

Yes — anytime before lock-in your hold is released, no questions asked. After lock-in (and once the deposit is captured), standard TrovaTrip cancellation policy applies based on how close to departure you are.

Does the price change as more friends join?

On trips with group discounts, yes — the more friends commit, the lower everyone's price. The final price is set at lock-in based on the size of the group at that moment. Everyone pays the same.

What if I want different dates than the group?

When you commit you pick which of the proposed dates work for you. If the group lands on a date you can't do, your hold is released and you're under no obligation.

Who's actually running the trip?

TrovaTrip handles all the logistics — flights, hotels, guides, on-the-ground operator (Incredible Adventures for this one). We've run thousands of group trips across 80+ countries. Once your group locks in, our ops team takes over and you get a real human point of contact.

Do I need a TrovaTrip account?

To start a trip, yes — that's how we know who to coordinate with. To commit as a friend you can do it as a guest (just email + card), or sign up — whichever's easier.
